Ilka's - Homemade Jams

A combination of homesickness and fond memories of growing up on a farm led Ilka to start experimenting with jams. Inspired by traditional German recipes and her love for India, she started making her own flavour combinations. Adventure {organic strawberry with ginger and cinnamon}, Paradise Lost {naturally grown alphonso mango with pineapple, coconut} and Forest Whisper {Indian raspberry with organic strawberry, natural vanilla bean} are among our favourites. Packed with 70% real {seasonal} fruit, organic khandsari sugar, with absolutely NO preservatives, artificial flavours or added colours, Ilka’s jams are absolutely delicious. Her ultimate goal is to go all-organic, keeping her jams as sustainable and locally sourced as possible. The jams go great with anything edible – from yogurt and cheese, to biscuits and cake; and make great wedding/birthday favours, too. Ilka’s jams are available in 100ml and 250ml jars, priced between INR 180 and INR 300 respectively. You can find them at several popular Cafes and stores around Pune, from Koregaon Park to Aundh. #LBBTip: Keep an eye on her social media feeds, {FacebookInstagram} for her German breakfast events and other pop-ups!

Baked - Handcrafted With Love

For your most indulgent moments, try Kriti Marwah’s salted caramel sauce, and chocolate fudge sauce. We think they’d be insanely good, drizzled over a warm brownie, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream {maybe even both}. If you’re feeling more expreimental, and would like a healthier option – try the chocolate hummus. It may sound like the weirdest combination ever, but we hear it’s pleasant to taste and preferred by the diet-conscious. Encouraged by her family and friends, Kriti’s home-baking hobby snowballed into the venture that is now ‘Baked’.
Each 150-200ml jar is priced at INR 150, and you can order via social media {Facebook & Instagram} or over the phone. Since  her kitchen is based in Kalyani Nagar, delivery is only possible to nearby areas and at the most, Camp. You can also collect them from her directly after placing the order.
#LBBTip: She also takes orders for brownies, cakes, and her best-selling cookie dough jars. For Ganapati celebrations, she’s making cookie dough modaks, too!

Green Tokri

gallery-image

Shortcut

Green Tokri is a Pune-based farm that grows and supplies their own produce to supermarkets and homes across Pune. They were one of – if not *the* – first farms to offer door-step delivery of fresh groceries on a weekly basis.

Tell Me More

Green Tokri was founded in 2001 by agricultural engineer and Pune-born Indo-German, Dr. Marc Cremer, along with his wife Benedikte and business partners Zaheer Vakil and Mohiuddin Mulla. What started out as Marc’s hobby to create a source of farm-fresh lettuce, soon turned into a lucrative venture once he used his IT background to apply modern technology and methods to Indian farming. They soon transformed a plot of barren land in Saswad {at the foothills of the Sahyadris}, into a lush farmland using computer-operated systems for drip irrigation and fertilization. Once they began marketing their lettuce to friends and family, word quickly spread, and the business blossomed into what it is today. Green Tokri have a wide distribution service all across Pune, and will even deliver fresh produce to your doorstep once a week {provided you sign up on their website}. More than just salad leaves, they also grow a selection of fresh herbs, exotic fruits and vegetables, as well as manufacture their own range of bottled sauces, pickles, jams, and salad dressings. It may not be organically grown, but Green Tokri‘s farm-fresh produce does not contain any artificial flavors, colors, or taste enhancers.

Anything Else?

In case you’re the curious kind, they also organise farm tours {INR 695/head for adults, INR 349 for kids aged 5 – 12yrs} at their picturesque property in Saswad – provided you arrange your own transport. It’s a ticketed tour, and you need to sign up in advance {more details here. Their website also features a handy section on salad recipes and vegetarian appetizers that you can DIY at home. If you’re a lazy cook or simply don’t have time to do so, you can order or pick up their ‘Ready-to-Eat’ salad bowl {INR 85}, with salad dressing included.

So, We're Saying...

If you’re trying to eat healthy and don’t have time to hit the market, order your weekly supply of groceries from Green Tokri. Once you register with them, they’ll even WhatsApp you reminders to place your order on the day before scheduled delivery {different locations have specific days for delivery}. From baby potatoes to avocados, pasta sauce to peanut butter, and everything in between – Green Tokri is our go-to for fresh groceries and pantry supplies. Their bottled condiments {all priced between INR 89 – INR 265} are simply delicious, and can turn any home-cooked meal into a bona-fide gourmet feast!
